On 15th October 1918, Baba left his mortal body in Shirdi. 2 years even before this happened, Baba hinted the devotees of Shirdi about leaving His earthly body. A ritual called "Seemollanghanam" is celebrated by Shirdi people during Vijaya Dashami. Seemollanghanam means crossing the border. 2 years back on Seemollanghanam, after Shirdi people came from the ritual to DwarakaMai, Baba for no reason became very furious and started shouting at the devotees. He looked very angry and everyone was really scared to approach Baba. Baba tore of his clothes and shouted "Now tell me if I am a Muslim or a Hindu!!!".
After a little while, when Bhagoji approached Baba and said, "What happened Baba, why are you so angry on this auspicious Seemollanghanam day?" for which Baba replied furiously "Today is my Seemollanghanam". This was a clear indication that Baba was going to leave this earthly borders on Vijaya Dashami.
That's not all, one thing we have to notice was what Baba said about Him being Muslim or Hindu. He not only foretold about him leaving the mortal body, but He reprimanded us. He the almighty has foreseen that we fools will fight about how the rituals should be done after his death, whether the Muslim way or the Hindu way. For this reason, he tored off His clothes and asked us to identify by looking at Him whether He is a Muslim or Hindu?
Yet we ended up fighting. We are very sorry Baba, we need you to guide us.
